I wake up every day knowing I’ll get to spend it doing what I love — celebrating my craft and helping brides’ inner beauty shine through. Having a career you’re truly passionate and excited about is a rarity nowadays, and I never forget that.
When I was asked at five years old what I wanted to be when I grew up, I replied, “I just want to make people happy!” My mother helped nurture that dream early on as she encouraged my artistic abilities and shared her own — especially when it came to hair and makeup. As I grew older, I became my circle’s beauty guru, developing my skills by giving friends free makeovers and doing my own makeup for homecoming and prom.
I was only a junior in high school when I had my first experience with bridal hair and makeup. Although I tried my best to seem calm and collected on the outside, it was a big step! But all those years of practice paid off — as my bride examined her glamorous wedding makeup and updo in the mirror, smiling widely, I beamed with pride. From that moment on, I knew I’d found my calling.
After high school, I dove into the industry head-first — earning my Cosmetology License at the Blaine Beauty School while at the same time managing an Origins beauty boutique. After graduation, I began apprenticing at salons, but quickly learned that I wanted a structure that would allow my passion, creativity and dedication to my clients to grow.
I continued my education at Framingham State University, studying dual majors in Apparel Design and Fashion Merchandising. Building off the knowledge I acquired there, I worked as a traveling hair stylist and makeup artist, freelancing with different companies in my area and excitedly absorbing every ounce of experience and knowledge I was offered along the way. I went on to earn a certification in Kett Cosmetics Airbrush Makeup and began booking my own bridal hair and makeup clients. That list of clients grew along with my passion and on March 6, 2010 Blushing Brides was born.
